Phase II of Nhi Thanh Water Treatment Plant increases capacity to 60,000 m³/day and expands water-supply pipelines serving Long An Province.
Project overview
After Phase II reaches stable operation, together with investment in D450 and D400 pipelines from Vinh Loc Industrial Park along National Highway 1A to the Ho Chi Minh City boundary and a D560 pipeline from Cho Tram intersection to Can Giuoc Town, the plant is expected to deliver 60,000 m³/day. This capacity is intended to support the development needs of Ben Luc, Can Duoc and Can Giuoc, compared with approximately 48,000 m³/day currently supplied to the network.
Nguyen Hoang Tuan, a representative of Nhi Thanh Water Treatment Plant, stated that after Phase II is implemented, the plant will focus its resources on meeting schedule, quality and water-supply targets, operating and increasing plant capacity according to plan, and contributing to improved living conditions for people in Long An.
Nhi Thanh Water Treatment Plant was built and commissioned in 2019 with a Phase I design capacity of 30,000 m³/day, using water from Rach Chanh as its raw-water source. The project supplies clean water to industrial zones in Tan An City and to Thu Thua, Tan Tru, Ben Luc, Can Giuoc, Can Duoc and surrounding areas.
To meet growing demand for clean water, Phase II was planned in two stages:
- 2022-2023: increase plant capacity to 60,000 m³/day.
- 2023-2025: develop capacity to 120,000 m³/day.
Total investment for Phase II was estimated at nearly VND 210 billion.
The 2022-2023 phase of the Nhi Thanh Water Treatment Plant project is important to Long An as the province's economy and society continue to develop rapidly. The plant supports domestic and industrial clean-water demand, helps improve the province's investment competitiveness, and contributes to the business position and revenue of DNP Water Joint Stock Company.
